The late Sun Jian Yun gave David Martin her permission to set up a UK association to propagate Sun Style arts. The Association has been formed with a colleague Bob Melia.
This association has been formed to provide a platform for us to propagate the style as taught by Sun Jian Yun and to honour both of them for the legacy they have passed on to us.
Dave Martin began practising Yang style in 1978 and changed to Sun style in 1990. He was introduced to Grandmaster Sun Jian Yun in 1991 by Yi Quan Master Cui Rui Bin and accepted as a student. In 1997 Teacher Sun Jian Yun invited him to become one of her formal ( bai shi ) students. The ceremony was performed at Grandmaster Sun Lu Tang’s tomb in a village near Baoding.
Dave has visited China once or twice almost every year since 1991.
